When life gets heavy, comfort can come on four giant, gentle paws

Halle Bear and Toby's Mission: Suicide Prevention

Spreading hope through paws, love, and legacy

This page is dedicated

to suicide prevention, awareness,

and support for survivors.

At Spirit Cove, we believe no one

should struggle alone.

This space is built in honor of a

beloved son, brother, uncle,

and friend. He devoted his

professional life to working in

healthcare, and helping others,

but was suddenly taken by suicide.

Halle Bear and Toby were once

 his beloved companions,

and his life was defined by

compassion, laughter, and kindness.

His greatest joy was bringing

comfort to others,

and his Newfoundlands

were always by his side,

giving him the same unconditional love

he gave so freely to the world.

A Legacy of Love

In the wake of heartbreak,

his family entrusted

Halle Bear and Toby to Spirit Cove,

hoping that through them,

 his compassion might live on.

These gentle giants trained to

become therapy dogs, and serve

first responders, healthcare workers,

and other community heroes,

offering comfort to those walking

the hardest roads.

Their presence is a reminder

that no one should suffer in silence,

and that kindness

can be a bridge to healing.

This mission is dedicated to his memory,

and to all those we have lost.

To those who are struggling,

you are not alone.

To those who have survived loss,

your grief is seen.

Together, we break the silence.

We lift each other up,

We carry forward

 his legacy of love.

Who Is at Risk?

Suicide is complex, but certain populations face higher risks:

  • First responders and healthcare workers carrying trauma and stress daily.

  • Veterans coping with invisible wounds.

  • Teens and young adults navigating overwhelming pressures.

  • Survivors of trauma or abuse who may feel isolated in their pain.

By raising awareness and encouraging open, compassionate conversations, we can help reduce stigma

and bring people closer to support and healing.
